Fantasy football advice, Week 10: Who to start/sit for Panthers vs. Titans
The Panthers put their undefeated record on the line against Tennessee.
The Carolina Panthers are one of the NFL's last three undefeated teams. The Tennessee Titans, at 2-6, are not having a good season, but by virtue of playing in the AFC South, you can't say they are done for the season; a late-season hot stretch could make Tennessee a contender. The two teams play one another Sunday, with Carolina the obvious favorite.
Carolina has running back Jonathan Stewart listed on the injury report this week with an ankle issue, but he should be good to go at full strength Sunday. The Titans, meanwhile, will be without wide receiver Kendall Wright for the second straight week. Running back Dexter McCluster is dealing with an ankle issue, but should be fine for the game.
The Titans host the Panthers Sunday. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET, and here’s a look at the fantasy considerations:
PANTHERS
Start ‘em: He might not be the most consistent quarterback, but thanks to Cam Newton's running ability, few at the position have a higher ceiling. He's a must-start. ... Jonathan Stewart has had at least five fantasy points every game this season. Even with Newton and Mike Tolbert vulturing scores, he's produced. Since Week 4, Greg Olsen has averaged 12.5 fantasy points a game. And his 25-point game was before that line. ... Graham Gano has been a fantasy monster most of the year. ... The Panthers' defense is a strong unit, and the Tennessee offense is only so-so.
Sit ‘em: I'm still avoiding the Carolina receiving corps of Philly Brown, Ted Ginn Jr., Devin Funchess and Jerricho Cotchery. At least one of them will almost certainly have a productive day Sunday, but I have no idea which or how to guess.
TITANS
Start ‘em: The best offensive weapon for Tennessee, and it isn't close, is Delanie Walker.
Start ‘em?: The Titans appear to have committed to Antonio Andrews as their starting running back for at least the next few weeks. He doesn't offer much upside, but has a reasonable floor. Ryan Succop hasn't kicked for double-digit fantasy points once all season. ... The Titans' defense is very average, and the Carolina offense is pretty average itself.
Sit ‘em: Week 9 was a huge return from injury for Marcus Mariota, with 32 fantasy points, but that was against the Saints; he hasn't topped 18 since Week 1 otherwise. ... Behind Andrews, David Cobb is active, Dexter McCluster will be the change-of-pace back and Bishop Sankey continues to exist. There isn't a fantasy contributor there. ... With Kendall Wright out, Harry Douglas, Justin Hunter and Dorial Green-Beckham all have some upside, with seven fantasy points apiece a week ago, but there isn't any consistency there.
