Fantasy football advice, Week 10: Who to start/sit for Bears vs. Rams
Two teams sitting outside of contention right now face off Sunday.
The battle of the Midwest in the NFL comes Sunday, with the 3-5 Chicago Bears facing the 4-4 St. Louis Rams. Neither team is within a game of a playoff slot right now, though a hot stretch in the second half could change things.
As has been the case for much of the season, the Bears have several injury questions among its offense. Wide receiver Eddie Royal isn't going to play Sunday. Running back Matt Forte and wide receiver Alshon Jeffery are both technically question marks for Sunday's game; Forte appears unlikely to play, while Jeffery looks like he'll give it a go. The Rams, meanwhile, appear to be fully healthy for Sunday, at least from a fantasy perspective.
The Rams host the Bears Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at the fantasy questions entering the game:
BEARS
Start ‘em: Health has been a question all year, but in games Alshon Jeffery has played, he's averaged almost 15 a game, including 17.3 since returning from injury. His current injury is worrisome, but if he plays, he's in your lineup. ... Martellus Bennett had his biggest game in a month in Week 9. He's still a starting tight end, but a low-end one.
Start ‘em?: Since his injury early in the season, Jay Cutler has put up 17 fantasy points in every single game. He might not be high-ceiling, but he's definitely high-floor. ... Jeremy Langford had a great game filling in for Matt Forte in Week 9, though he draws a much tougher opponent this week. He's a high-end flex. ... Marquess Wilson is only appealing if Jeffery is inactive, or if you believe Jeffery will be a decoy. ... Week 9 was awful for Robbie Gould, who missed his only two field-goal attempts. Still, he's been great almost all season otherwise.
Sit ‘em: The Bears’ defense has been awful most of the year.
RAMS
Start ‘em: If we were redrafting for the rest of the fantasy season today, Todd Gurley would be the first overall pick, and there isn't really a close second. ... The Rams' defense has been a monster most of the year.
Start ‘em?: Since Week 3, Tavon Austin has averaged 13 fantasy points a game. He's suddenly very strong.
Sit ‘em: What are you hoping for if you use Nick Foles? Twenty fantasy points? He hasn't done that all year. There's no upside. ... The Rams' offense isn't strong enough to support a lot of weapons, and Gurley and Austin have the roles locked down. There isn't enough to feed Kenny Britt or Jared Cook behind them. ... It's been mostly a down year for Greg Zuerlein as a kicker.
