Fantasy football advice, Week 10: Who to start/sit for Saints vs. Washington
Two teams needing every win possible to keep playoff hopes alive face off Sunday.
At 3-5, Washington finds itself on the fringe of the race in the NFC East, a game and a half out of first and needing a strong second half to be a contender. The New Orleans Saints, meanwhile, are 4-5, but with the Carolina Panthers rolling through the league, the Saints are only hoping for a strong second half to contend for a Wild Card. Sunday, the two teams play each other, with the loser seeing its playoff aspirations fading.
New Orleans wide receiver Willie Snead has been on the injury report this week with a knee issue, but he's expected to be fine for Sunday. On the Washington side, running back Chris Thompson is the only fantasy contributor on the week's injury report, but he should be fine to play.
Washington will host New Orleans Sunday. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Here’s a look at the fantasy considerations:
SAINTS
Start ‘em: After 77 fantasy points in his last two games, Drew Brees is back in must-start territory, though he's back on the road this week and you like him less on the road. ... Mark Ingram has had at least six fantasy points in every game this season, and at least nine in all but one. He's a stud. ... Brandin Cooks is finally showing the potential we expected. He's a must-start receiver. ... Benjamin Watson has suddenly become a must-start tight end.
Start ‘em?: Behind Cooks, Willie Snead has shown upside, though there are just so many mouths to feed.
Sit ‘em: We still haven't seen even one good game from C.J. Spiller this year. ... Marques Colston, Brandon Coleman and Josh Hill all have their moments, but the consistency isn't there. ... Kai Forbath hasn't been any more productive for New Orleans than he had been in Washington. ... The Saints' defense has five positive fantasy days this season and four negative ones.
WASHINGTON
Start ‘em: Take out the game he left early with injury, and Jordan Reed is averaging 11 fantasy points a game.
Start ‘em?: You like any quarterback facing New Orleans. Kirk Cousins is indeed "any quarterback." ... The team is saying DeSean Jackson is 100 percent since his injury. He's high upside. ... If the offense does what offenses do against New Orleans, Dustin Hopkins should get plenty of kicking opportunities.
Sit ‘em: The first three weeks of the season, each of Alfred Morris, Matt Jones and Chris Thompson had exactly one double-digit fantasy day. Since then, their combined total is zero. ... Pierre Garcon wasn't any kind of monster while Jackson was out, and now that he's back, he has limited potential. ... The way the New Orleans offense is clicking right now, you'd be scared of any defense, and the Washington defense is bad as is.
