Fantasy football advice, Week 11: Who to start/sit for Cowboys vs. Dolphins
Tony Romo is back, which is the storyline that will dominate all of this game’s coverage.
The biggest storyline in the NFL this week might be the return of Tony Romo for the Dallas Cowboys. Romo hasn't played since Week 2, and the Cowboys haven't won in that time, but he makes it back for Week 11 against the Miami Dolphins, looking to get the team back on track.
The Cowboys have some concerns around running back Darren McFadden and wide receiver Dez Bryant for Sunday's game. Both should play, though some of the beat writers think McFadden could see a reduced number of carries in light of the injury and with rainy conditions. Meanwhile, the Dolphins have none of their fantasy contributors on the weekly injury report.
Miami hosts Dallas for Romo’s return, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at the fantasy names to consider:
COWBOYS
Start ‘em: Unless his injury is much worse than we expect, Darren McFadden should still get more than enough carries to be a starting running back. ... Dez Bryant was decent with Matt Cassel at quarterback; he should be great now that the guy throwing the ball is, you know, NFL-caliber. ... Dan Bailey has put up at least eight fantasy points in every game this season except Week 3.
Start ‘em?: If I had my druthers, I'd rather let Tony Romo play a week to show there's no rust before putting him back in my fantasy lineup, but if you were struggling without him, there's certainly rationale for just putting him right back out there. ... You'd like to think Romo's return would help Jason Witten, but until you see it, you can't use him.
Sit ‘em: For now, Rod Smith is the McFadden backup, though Robert Turbin could leapfrog him before too long. Either way, you don't want these guys in your Week 11 lineups. ... Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley don't have much to offer. ... The Cowboys' defense is better for real football than for fantasy.
DOLPHINS
Start ‘em: Since the Miami bye, Lamar Miller has averaged 20 fantasy points a game. He's been a monster. ... In PPR, Jarvis Landry is a borderline WR1. Even in standard, he has six-plus points in every game all season.
Start ‘em?: At this point, I'm done wondering when Rishard Matthews will fade back, and I'm just calling him an every-week flex.
Sit ‘em: The last three weeks, Ryan Tannehill is averaging 11.3 fantasy points a game. He's not come close to the hopes we had for him entering the season. ... Jay Ajayi has been great as a backup, and will earn more touches for himself, but he isn't quite into flex territory yet. ... Jordan Cameron hasn't come close to earning his contract with Miami, at least from a fantasy perspective. He has 29 fantasy points all year. ... Andrew Franks has more zero-point fantasy games this season (two) than double digit fantasy days (one). ... With Romo back, the Cowboys should do enough on offense to steer you away from the Dolphins' defense.
