Fantasy football advice, Week 12: Who to start/sit for Steelers vs. Seahawks
Two teams face off minus two superstars.
Two teams without their superstar running backs face off Sunday afternoon, with the Le'Veon Bell-less Pittsburgh Steelers traveling to Washington to face the Marshawn Lynch-less Seattle Seahawks. Both teams are in the thick of their respective playoff races — the Seahawks are a game out in the NFC Wild Card race, while the Steelers are a game up for the AFC's first Wild Card — so a win is crucial for both in Sunday's game.
Bell's absence aside, the Steelers come into Sunday's game basically healthy from a fantasy perspective, with no fantasy contributors on the injury report. For the Seahawks, Lynch is out with an abdomen problem. Running back Thomas Rawls and wide receiver Doug Baldwin, meanwhile, are both expected to play through their respective injuries.
The Seahawks host the Steelers Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at the fantasy names to consider:
STEELERS
Start ‘em: I'm just not scared of the Seattle defense like I once was; Ben Roethlisberger, DeAngelo Williams and Antonio Brown are all fine starts. ... Chris Boswell has averaged 9.3 fantasy points a game since taking over as the Pittsburgh kicker.
Start ‘em?: If you have Martavis Bryant, you're still tossing him out there as well, though I remain unconvinced of his touchdown rate. Still, he keeps proving me wrong. ... The Steelers' defense is below average, but so is the Seattle offense.
Sit ‘em: Seven times in 10 games, Heath Miller has had four or fewer points, including his last two games with Roethlisberger at the helm.
SEAHAWKS
Start ‘em: The Steelers have a really strong run defense, which could limit Thomas Rawls, but the rookie has looked really good regardless. He's a starter. ... One more game. That's all Jimmy Graham gets before he truly becomes a TE2 and not a sure starter. ... Steven Hauschka hasn't cracked 10 fantasy points in his last three games, but he still has at least five in every game and almost 10 a game all season. ... The Seahawks' defense isn't the surefire unit it once was, but it's still an every-week starter.
Start ‘em?: It was nice to see Russell Wilson crack 20 fantasy points in Week 11 for the first time since Week 2, but he needs to show more consistency.
Sit ‘em: The only Seattle receiver you're considering running out there is Doug Baldwin, and with Tyler Lockett stealing some of his touches, you probably just want to avoid the position altogether.
SUMMARY
Start in every league: Ben Roethlisberger, DeAngelo Williams, Antonio Brown, Chris Boswell, Thomas Rawls, Jimmy Graham, Steven Hauschka, Seattle defense
Start if you're desperate: Martavis Bryant, Pittsburgh defense, Russell Wilson
Bench: Heath Miller, Doug Baldwin, Tyler Lockett
