Fantasy football advice, Week 12: Who to start/sit for Ravens vs. Browns on Monday night
Even as banged up as the Ravens have been, they’re still ahead of the Browns in the standings.

You almost have to feel bad for the Baltimore Ravens at this point. The team is 3-7 despite every game this season being a one-score final either way. They've lost their starting quarterback, top two running backs and top two wide receivers, and never could get their starting tight end back from last year's injury. It's been miserable. And yet, the Ravens are a game ahead of the Cleveland Browns in the AFC North, by virtue of the Browns being ... well, the Browns. The two teams face off Monday night.
The Ravens added quarterback Joe Flacco and running back Justin Forsett to the list of players who are out last week. The Browns, meanwhile, should have their full complement of real fantasy contributors ready for the game; wide receivers Andrew Hawkins and Taylor Gabriel are unlikely to play, but neither has done much anyway.
This game, between two teams a combined 5-15, caps off Week 12 in Cleveland Monday. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET, and here’s a look at the fantasy considerations:
RAVENS
Start ‘em: The Browns have a bad run defense, and even if Buck Allen isn't actually a superstar, he has virtually no competition for touches in the Baltimore backfield. He's a good Week 12 starter. ... Justin Tucker is still a strong kicker, even as the offense around him flails.
Start ‘em?: It looks like the Baltimore target leader down the stretch will be tight end Crockett Gillmore. After back-to-back 10-point fantasy days, he warrants a look.
Sit ‘em: The end of Joe Flacco's season means we'll be seeing Matt Schaub under center in the NFL again. Let's just say there's a reason he hasn't been a starter in two years. ... Kamar Aiken's virtue the last few weeks is that he was the best of a bad lot and had a decent quarterback throwing to him. The former is still true; the latter is definitely not. ... The Ravens' defense is bad, and not even a game against Cleveland bumps the unit up.
BROWNS
Start ‘em: With Josh McCown at quarterback, Gary Barnidge has been a fantasy monster this year. ... The reason Matt Schaub stopped being an NFL quarterback? Interceptions. The Browns' defense could have a field day.
Start ‘em?: It actually wasn't a bad season at all for Josh McCown before his injuries; from Week 3 to Week 8, he averaged 18.7 fantasy points a game. You could do worse. ... Travis Benjamin snapped a string of three straight two-point games last time out. He's a flex play with limited upside.
Sit ‘em: There's got to be better options out there than Duke Johnson Jr. or Isaiah Crowell. Neither one has any real upside. ... Travis Coons hasn't gone above seven fantasy points in any of his last five games.
SUMMARY
Start in every league: Buck Allen, Justin Tucker, Gary Barnidge, Cleveland defense
Start if you’re desperate: Crockett Gillmore, Josh McCown, Travis Benjamin
Bench: Matt Schaub, Kamar Aiken, Baltimore defense, Duke Johnson Jr., Isaiah Crowell, Travis Coons
