The Miami Dolphins have gone 2-1 since their bye, beating two bad teams and losing to one good one. Sunday they play the Buffalo Bills, who are 3-4 and the closest thing to a neutral opponent the Dolphins have faced, so we might get a look at the real Dolphins in that game.
Fantasy football advice, Week 9: Who to start/sit for Dolphins vs. Bills
What version of the Miami team will we get this week?
Miami tight end Jordan Cameron has been limited in practice this week with a hamstring issue. He’ll be questionable for Sunday. On the Bills side, Buffalo placed wide receiver Percy Harvin on season-ending injured reserve this week. The team does expect to get quarterback Tyrod Taylor, running back Karlos Williams and wide receiver Sammy Watkins all back from injury, though; only Watkins is even a real question mark heading into Sunday.
Buffalo hosts Miami Sunday; game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at the fantasy names to consider:
DOLPHINS
Start ‘em: Over his last three weeks, Lamar Miller is averaging 20 fantasy points a game. No, he’s not that good, but he’s solidly a No. 2 running back at least. ... Jarvis Landry has had at least six fantasy points every game. He’s averaging almost 11 per game.
Start ‘em?: The last two weeks for Ryan Tannehill have showed both sides of his ability; his 27 points in Week 7 showed how elite he can be, but eight points in Week 8 showed he’s no sure thing. ... Every time I think he’s due to fade, Rishard Matthews bounces back. He’s now averaging just over 10 fantasy points a game, though he’s behind Landry in the pecking order.
Sit ‘em: It’s been a mediocre season for Jordan Cameron at best, and considering his injury, best to just give him the week out of lineups. ... Andrew Franks has had three games of two or fewer fantasy points out of seven games. That’s a bad ratio. ... The Dolphins’ defense hasn’t had a game all season between -1 and 12 fantasy points; it’s been either great or awful. That’s not worth the risk.
BILLS
Start ‘em: Since getting healthy, LeSean McCoy has averaged 12 fantasy points a game. He doesn’t carry the same upside he had in Philadelphia, but he’s still a starter in most leagues.
Start ‘em?: Returning from injury, Tyrod Taylor has both a high floor and a high ceiling. He’s a low-end starter in most leagues. ... McCoy and Karlos Williams are both healthy for the first time all year. McCoy will carry the lion’s share, but Williams has shown enough to still be relevant. ... If Sammy Watkins gets back from injury Sunday, he’s a fine flex option; if he doesn’t, Robert Woods will get a lot of those targets. ... Charles Clay has fallen off a lot since his early hot stretch; he’s a TE2. ... Dan Carpenter has had no middle ground this year; 11-plus points three times, five or fewer four times. ... The Bills’ defense was supposed to be better than it has been; it has elite upside.
Sit ‘em: The likelihood of Watkins’ return makes Chris Hogan unusable in fantasy.
