New York Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick may have surgery on Friday to repair the torn ligaments in his left hand, according to Dom Cosentino of the Newark Star-Ledger.
Ryan Fitzpatrick could have surgery Friday, unlikely to miss time for Jets, fantasy owners
The Jets’ starting quarterback could have surgery in the wake of a hand injury that sidelined him mid-game in Week 8. We break down the fantasy implications.

Since the Jets play on Thursday night, a Friday surgery would give Fitzpatrick 10 days to heal before squaring off against the Houston Texans in Week 11. Per Cosentino's report, full recovery from the surgery could take up to three months, but the Jets' signal caller could play with a protective brace on in the meantime. Fitzpatrick was bounced from action in Week 8 after suffering the injury early in the first quarter, but started and finished Week 9's victory while throwing for 272 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Fantasy impact: While Fitzpatrick isn't much more than a high-end QB2 in standard-formatted leagues, his presence in Chan Gailey's offense gives the Jets viability that otherwise isn't had with Geno Smith under center. If he misses time, and it doesn't appear that he will, the values of Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker could be considered slightly lower in his absence.
Against the Buffalo Bills in Week 10, Fitzpatrick remains a fringe QB1/QB2 against a capable defense that will still have its hands full against the Jets' talented receiving corps.
