Denver Broncos running back C.J. Anderson sat out Thursday's practice session, according to 9News' Mike Klis.
C.J. Anderson sits Thursday’s practice, fantasy status murky for Sunday
The Broncos could be without a key component of their backfield on Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.
Anderson continues to battle an ankle injury that bounced him from action against the San Diego Chargers in Week 13. Thursday marks the second straight session Anderson has missed, and if he is not cleared to play, Juwan Thompson will take his spot in the running back rotation. Ronnie Hillman missed Wednesday's practice, but returned on Thursday, and would be in line for a huge workload in the event Anderson sits.
Fantasy impact: It is looking less and less likely that Anderson will be active against the Oakland Raiders, and fantasy owners have to begin exploring other options. The timing is unfortunate since Anderson began flashing the form that dominated for fantasy owners down the stretch of 2014, and he will now have to overcome an ankle injury for the second time this year. Because he was so unproductive in the beginning of 2015 due to his ankle injury, fantasy owners would be taking a huge risk if they played him on Sunday in the event that he is active.
Anderson would be best left on fantasy benches in leagues of all formats, while Hillman remains a high-upside RB2.
