James White hasn't taken on a role in the Patriots' offense to the extent Dion Lewis did before his season-ending injury, although fantasy owners had to be encouraged by his usage in Week 13.
Fantasy start/sit advice, Week 14: James White
The Patriots’ passing-down back had a big output during Week 13’s loss. We break down the fantasy implications.
Tom Brady’s offense wound up scoring 28 points despite the loss, although they did not come easily. Drops plagued the Patriots receivers, leading Brady to rely on White, who answered the call and caught 10 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown, and wound up scoring the fourth-highest fantasy point total among running backs in Week 13.
Fantasy impact: A big part of White's production is tied to the fact that Rob Gronkowski is not on the field, and if this remains the case for Sunday, White will have a boost in fantasy value once again. Brady's options are thinner than what they used to be with Lewis, Gronkowski and Julian Edelman out, but like Danny Amendola, White is beginning to establish himself as an important piece in the offense.
Against J.J. Watt and a fierce Houston Texans pass rush, White could see plenty of dump-offs from Brady once again in Week 14. He makes for a middling RB2 option in PPR leagues and is a high-upside flex in standard formats.
