Fantasy football advice, Week 14: Who to start/sit for Lions vs. Rams

Despite a Week 13 loss, things are generally trending upward for the Detroit Lions these days, as the team has won three of four since starting 1-7. The same can't be sad for the St. Louis Rams, who started 4-3 but have lost five in a row to fall all the way out of any sort of playoff race. Sunday, the two face each other, with one team looking to stay hot and the other looking to figure something out.

Despite being on the injury report with an ankle issue, reports are that wide receiver Calvin Johnson was mostly held up in practice for maintenance, and he should play Sunday. The Rams, meanwhile, will go back to Case Keenum at quarterback, who is expected to return from his concussion. Kicker Greg Zuerlein is expected to return from injury as well, and wide receiver Wes Welker should be fine to play as well.

Start ‘em?: The early season was just awful for Matthew Stafford, but things have turned around; he's had at least 15 fantasy points in four straight games and is averaging 21.3 a game in that time. He's an easy QB2 with strong QB1 upside. ... Golden Tate has been competent lately, with seven points a game in his last five. He's low-floor, but worth a look. ... Matt Prater has reached double figures in three straight, but it's hard to shake the memory of his rough early season.

Sit ‘em: The Detroit running game isn't something you want any part of. Keep Joique Bell, Ameer Abdullah and Theo Riddick safely benched. ... Eric Ebron finally scored another touchdown in Week 13, but did so with nine total yards. He's averaging under 20 yards in his last five and isn't a fantasy option.

Start ‘em: If you have Todd Gurley, odds are you're still starting him, though the fact that he's his team's only real weapon makes him hard to count on.

Sit ‘em: This is going to be a long paragraph. Case Keenum is once again the Rams' quarterback over Nick Foles, which is sort of like deciding between the first and second Kill Bill movies. (Okay, maybe that warrants explaining: I hated both of those. They are awful, and don't you @ me.) ... Tavon Austin has good games in him, but his floor is so low and so plausible that you can't use him. ... Behind Austin, Wes Welker and Kenny Britt don't have much to offer, and that's just at wide receiver; Jared Cook hasn't helped you all season, either. ... Greg Zuerlein returns from two missed games to injury, but has minimal upside.
