Fantasy football advice, Week 14: Who to start/sit for Titans vs. Jets
These teams look nothing like the two that faced off last year.
The last time the New York Jets and Tennessee Titans faced off, in Week 15 of last season, the leading passers were Geno Smith and Charlie Whitehurst, the leading running backs were Chris Johnson and Shonn Greene and the leading wide receivers were Eric Decker and Nate Washington. When they face off Sunday, only Decker will return to two teams that have seen mass turnover.
The Titans will get running back Dexter McCluster back Sunday after he missed the last two games with a knee injury. They will, though, be without wide receiver Kendall Wright, sitting with a rib injury. On the Jets side, like seemingly every week, quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and wide receivers Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker are all on the injury report, with all three likely fine to play Sunday.
The Jets will host the Titans Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at the fantasy names to consider:
TITANS
Start ‘em: The last five weeks, Delanie Walker is averaging 12.4 fantasy points a game. He's a must-start tight end.
Start ‘em?: With Kendall Wright out, the only Tennessee wide receiver worth a look in fantasy is Dorial Green-Beckham, whose stock is rising of late.
Sit ‘em: Coming off of a huge Week 13, Marcus Mariota has a much tougher opponent this week. Let him sit until he proves he can perform even against decent defenses. ... Antonio Andrews hasn't been anything in the neighborhood of consistent this year. He's just too hard to trust, and Dexter McCluster and David Cobb behind him don't have a lot going on, either. ... Even with Justin Hunter and now Kendall Wright out, Harry Douglas offers very little in the way of upside. ... Still waiting for that first double-digit fantasy day for Ryan Succop this year. ... The Titans' defense is bad, and the Jets' offense is good. That's enough.
JETS
Start ‘em: The last two weeks, Ryan Fitzpatrick has totaled 54 fantasy points. He's been good, has a strong group of weapons and a good matchup. ... Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker have been incredible this year; the last time either guy put up fewer than eight points (the only time all season, in fact) was Marshall in Week 7.
Start ‘em?: After a really strong early season, Chris Ivory has fallen off a bit of late. You're still probably using him, but you have to tread lightly. ... The return to action of Darrelle Revis helps the Jets' defense, but it hasn't been elite this year. It's high-risk, high-reward.
Sit ‘em: For now, Bilal Powell is still only a handcuff, but his stock is rising, and you might see him climbing in the rankings down the stretch. ... Jeff Cumberland gets mention in this space only because some tight end has to. ... Randy Bullock had his first double-digit fantasy day of the season in Week 13. You want a kicker who can do that more often.
