Fantasy football advice, Week 14: Who to start/sit for Seahawks vs. Ravens
Poor Jimmy Clausen.
There's a shot at some really silly history in Sunday's Seattle Seahawks-Baltimore Ravens game. The Seahawks shut out the Chicago Bears earlier this season, with Jimmy Clausen filling in for starting quarterback Jay Cutler. Clausen is now on the Ravens, and with Matt Schaub banged up, Clausen might have to start again. The Seahawks have a shot at shutting out the same quarterback on two different teams twice in the same season.
The Seahawks will be without running back Marshawn Lynch Sunday, but should have all the rest of their fantasy contributors ready to play. The Ravens, meanwhile, are unlikely to have tight end Crockett Gillmore and have a lot of questions about Schaub as well, with the quarterback shaping up to be a game-time decision. They should get tight end Maxx Williams back for this week, though.
The Ravens host the Seahawks Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Here’s a look at the fantasy considerations:
SEAHAWKS
Start ‘em: Remember when Russell Wilson's season was a disappointment? The last three weeks, he's averaging 30.7 fantasy points a game and has re-established himself as a big-timer. ... Thomas Rawls has 66 fantasy points in his last three weeks. ... Doug Baldwin has six touchdowns in his last four weeks (man, is this offense clicking). ... The Seahawks' defense against a falling-apart Baltimore offense? Yes please.
Start ‘em?: Surprisingly, Steven Hauschka really hasn't thrived as the Seattle offense has taken off; he's averaging only 6.2 fantasy points a game the last five weeks.
Sit ‘em: With Jimmy Graham on injured reserve, Luke Willson's looks are increasing, but not by enough to bring him even close to fantasy consideration.
RAVENS
Start ‘em: In three games since Justin Forsett got hurt (including the game he left early), Buck Allen has averaged 15 fantasy points a game. He has a tough matchup, but with the team lacking any real offensive options, he'll get every chance. He's a fine RB2.
Sit ‘em: Maybe Matt Schaub can play Sunday. Maybe it'll be Jimmy Clausen. Either way, oh-god-no. ... Kamar Aiken and Maxx Williams should suffer, considering they don't have a real NFL quarterback throwing them the ball. ... We're discussing the chance the Ravens could get shut out Sunday. That's not a situation where you want to use a kicker. Sorry, Justin Tucker. ... The Ravens' defense has been strong of late, but the Seattle offense is just on fire. Stay away.
SUMMARY
Start in every league: Russell Wilson, Thomas Rawls, Doug Baldwin, Seattle defense, Buck Allen
Start if you're desperate: Steven Hauschka
Bench: Luke Willson, Matt Schaub, Jimmy Clausen, Kamar Aiken, Maxx Williams, Justin Tucker, Baltimore defense
