Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert is not practicing on Thursday, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.
Tyler Eifert ‘probably not playing’ Sunday, per report; fantasy owners need backups
The Bengals will likely have to go another week without Tyler Eifert. We break down the fantasy implications.
Hobson added that Eifert is "probably not playing" Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers due to a concussion he suffered on the first drive of Week 14's matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Though the NFL's concussion protocol is strict by itself, the Bengals may opt to play it safe with their star tight end as the playoffs near. Tyler Kroft will likely start at tight end in Eifert's place.
Fantasy impact: Kroft does not deserve fantasy consideration, and Eifert’s owners will have to explore backup plans while so much uncertainty surrounds his status for Week 15 and beyond. It’s another crushing blow to fantasy owners, who likely acquired Eifert at a low cost and watched him amass 12 touchdowns in as many games.
Fantasy owners will have to stay glued to practice reports to assess his status going forward, but for now, they will have to weather the storm and likely start a different tight end in his place for this week of the fantasy playoffs.
