San Francisco 49ers tight end Vance McDonald has been fully cleared for Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Vance McDonald injury update: 49ers tight end cleared for fantasy owners
The 49ers will get Vance McDonald back into the huddle after a one-week absence. We break down the fantasy implications.
McDonald entered the NFL's concussion protocol after exiting Week 13's win over the Chicago Bears and sat out his team's following game against the Browns. However, McDonald returnedto practice at a limited capacity on Wednesday and was later upgraded to full for both Thursday and Friday's sessions. With Garrett Celek on injured reserve, McDonald will slide back into the starting lineup for Sunday's contest in hopes of making an impression on 49ers brass when they address needs in the offseason.
Fantasy impact: McDonald would only be an option for fantasy owners in dire straits in Week 15, perhaps those who need a backup plan with Tyler EIfert sidelined. Before exiting Week 13 with a concussion, McDonald had found the end zone in two weeks preceding it, and has been able to exploit weak matchups. He won’t have one of those against the Bengals, and fantasy owners would be wise to explore other options.
McDonald would be a desperate option for fantasy owners to start in the fantasy semifinals and makes for more of a middling TE2 than anything else.
