Denver Broncos running back C.J. Anderson is listed as questionable on the team's injury report for Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
C.J. Anderson injury update: Broncos RB expected to play for fantasy owners
The Broncos will get a much-needed addition to their backfield on Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.
Anderson was forced to sit Week 14's loss to the Oakland Raiders, but head coach Gary Kubiak has since stated that he expects Anderson to rejoin the backfield. The third-year running back returned to practice at a limited basis on Thursday and Friday, his first action since having to exit Week 13's victory against the Chargers.
Fantasy impact: The Steelers are already one of the NFL's stingiest defenses against the run, allowing just 3.8 yards per carry. That, coupled with Kubiak's commitment to utilizing a committee approach with Ronnie Hillman, severely caps Anderson's upside in a week fantasy owners typically need to be aggressive.
These factors, in addition to Anderson being less than 100 percent healthy, are not likely to instill confidence in his fantasy owners. Anderson had been hampered for much of the beginning of the season and did not produce, and there isn’t reason to expect him to in Week 15. He would be a high-risk RB3, and fantasy owners should look elsewhere to stay afloat in the fantasy playoffs.
