Fantasy football advice, Week 15: Who to start/sit for Texans vs. Colts
Ignore the records. This is a battle for first place.
That they are both 6-7 doesn't really matter at this point; the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts face off in Week 15 playing for first place in the AFC South. The winner will have a serious leg up heading into the season's last two games.
The Texans will be without quarterback Brian Hoyer Sunday in light of his Week 14 concussion. Two of the three members of the Houston running-back committee, Alfred Blue and Chris Polk, are on the injury report as well, as is tight end Ryan Griffin, but all three are expected to be fine for Sunday. The Colts, meanwhile, have quarterback questions. Andrew Luck is out once again. Matt Hasselbeck is the current question mark; he's listed as probable despite a rib issue, but a Sunday morning setback could change that. Wide receiver Donte Moncrief is a bigger question mark; he's dealing with a foot issue and missed some days of practice this week. He'll be a game-time decision.
The Colts host Houston for Sunday’s game, scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at the fantasy names to consider:
TEXANS
Start ‘em: He might draw Vontae Davis in coverage, but even that isn't near enough to send fantasy owners away from DeAndre Hopkins. ... The Texans' defense has been good lately, and faces either a bad Indianapolis quarterback or a worse one.
Start ‘em?: Before last week's zero-point game, Cecil Shorts III had nine fantasy points in three straight games. He's risky, but if Davis shadows Hopkins, the ball will have to go somewhere.
Sit ‘em: With Brian Hoyer out, the Texans will turn to T.J. Yates at quarterback. He wasn't awful last time he had to start, but it's hard to imagine putting a fantasy playoff matchup on the line with Yates. ... The mess at running back with Houston makes it hard to use Alfred Blue, Chris Polk or Jonathan Grimes with anything resembling confidence. ... Nate Washington hasn't had a good fantasy game in almost two months. ... Ryan Griffin has been getting looks of late, but nothing consistent, and now he's also banged up. ... Nick Novak still hasn't reached 10 fantasy points in a game.
COLTS
Start ‘em?: Production has really sunk for Frank Gore lately; he's averaged seven fantasy points a game in his last four. He's a flex play. ... T.Y. Hilton has alternated good and bad games for almost two months now. He's hard to trust. ... Adam Vinatieri has been the only reliable fantasy Colt for a while now. ... The Colts' defense gets a backup quarterback, which is at least a reason to consider them in a deeper dive.
Sit ‘em: The bloom is definitely off the Matt Hasselbeck rose; he's totaled 13 fantasy points in his last two games combined. ... Between injury and decreased production, it's hard to count on Donte Moncrief right now. ... Coby Fleener has 10 fantasy points in his last five games combined.
