Fantasy football advice, Week 15: Who to start/sit for Titans vs. Patriots
Well, these two teams aren’t in the same class.
The New England Patriots ended their brief two-game losing streak in Week 14. At the same time, the Tennessee Titans ended their even briefer one-game winning streak. With the Patriots 11-2 and the Titans 3-10, there is no greater disparity in wins and losses between two opponents in Week 15 than the eight that separate these two.
Tennessee will be without wide receiver Kendall Wright Sunday for the second straight game and the fifth time in the last seven. The Patriots, meanwhile, put running back LeGarrette Blount on injured reserve this week. Wide receiver Julian Edelman has an outside shot at playing this week, but odds are he'll sit out one more week. Wide receiver Danny Amendola and tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Scott Chandler are all on the injury report as well, though they should all play.
New England plays host to Tennessee Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at the fantasy names to consider:
TITANS
Start ‘em: It's been two straight big years for Delanie Walker. He's firmly in the top tier among tight ends.
Start ‘em?: We keep waiting for Dorial Green-Beckham to really pop, and he's gotten better of late, but it looks like 2016 might be more his year.
Sit ‘em: The last four weeks, the Patriots have allowed 9.3 fantasy points a game to opposing quarterbacks. Marcus Mariota has had some good games lately, but this appears to be a good time to avoid him. ... Antonio Andrews, David Cobb and Bishop Sankey combine to make one of the league's worst running back groups. ... Can't think of any reason to run Ryan Succop or the Titans' defense out there in fantasy.
PATRIOTS
Start ‘em: Yeah, even with banged-up and/or inactive weapons, Tom Brady is fully safe to use in fantasy. ... It seems unlikely Julian Edelman will play this week, making Danny Amendola a perfectly strong WR2. ... Rob Gronkowski came back from injury not having missed a beat. He's a must- start. ... Stephen Gostkowski is still the league's best fantasy kicker. ... The Patriots' defense is fine in its own right, and faces a poor Tennessee offense.
Start ‘em?: If you told me one of Brandon Bolden or James White put up 25 fantasy points Sunday, I would have no idea who to guess. Either could get zero, either could get 20. Who the heck knows. But there's upside there.
Sit ‘em: Despite being the only New England skill player healthy all the way through the last eight games, Brandon LaFell has done almost nothing in fantasy.
