Fantasy football advice, Week 15: Who to start/sit for Broncos vs. Steelers
It’s the game with all the hype.
Week 15's biggest game is almost certainly a matchup between a struggling offense that is on its backup quarterback and has lost three of six, and another team that has had three starting quarterbacks and wouldn't even be a playoff team if the season ended today. Still, the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers play Sunday in what should be a big showdown.
Denver will be without quarterback Peyton Manning for another game Sunday. The team's (ridiculously long) injury report also includes running backs Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson, wide receivers Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders and tight end Owen Daniels (and that's just among primary fantasy performers). All five should play Sunday, with Anderson the biggest question mark. On the Pittsburgh side, running back DeAngelo Williams and tight end Heath Miller are both expected to play through their respective ailments.
Sunday’s game between the two teams will be played in Pittsburgh, with a 4:25 p.m. ET scheduled start time. Now for a look at the fantasy names to consider:
BRONCOS
Start ‘em: The Denver running back you want is Ronnie Hillman, who is a low-end RB2. ... The Denver offense once could support two elite wide receivers, but that number is one right now. Demaryius Thomas is still a fantasy starter. ... Even against a great offense, the Broncos’ defense is a must-start, even if it’s scary to do so.
Start ‘em?: Between injury and losing a big part of his role to Hillman, C.J. Anderson is only a risk-heavy flex play right now. ... Emmanuel Sanders has seen his production go in the tank with Osweiler at the helm. ... Brandon McManus reached double-digit fantasy points in Week 14 for the first time in six games. He still has good upside.
Sit ‘em: In five games now, Brock Osweiler has gone over 13 fantasy points once. He's averaging 12.8 fantasy points in his four starts. There's no upside here. ... Owen Daniels and Vernon Davis combined into one guy is a fine fantasy performer. Individually, they aren't doing much.
STEELERS
Start ‘em: Week 14 wasn't great for Ben Roethlisberger, but he'd averaged 25.5 a game for the four games before that. He's a must-start. ... DeAngelo Williams has been a fantasy monster for six weeks now. ... Antonio Brown is one of a short list of candidates for the best receiver in the league. ... If you have Martavis Bryant, you use him. Maybe he has one of his games with only a few points, but that's just part of the game. ... Chris Boswell's fantasy production has been incredible of late. ... The Steelers' defense has looked much better in recent weeks, and gets a much reduced Denver offense.
Sit ‘em: Even off of a three-game stretch with 14.3 fantasy points a game, Markus Wheaton is a fine one to miss against the Broncos. ... Denver occasionally struggles against tight ends, but with so many other mouths to feed in Pittsburgh, Heath Miller might not really get fed Sunday.
