Fantasy football advice, Week 16: Who to start/sit for Colts vs. Dolphins
Indianapolis needs to right the ship if it wants any shot at a postseason berth.
The Indianapolis Colts are reeling, sitting at 6-8 and a game back in the AFC South. They need to win out and get some help to hold on to their string of playoff appearances. That starts Sunday when they take on the 5-9 Miami Dolphins.
Despite being on the injury report with seemingly an entire body full of injuries, it appears the Colts will once again have Matt Hasselbeck at quarterback Sunday, with Andrew Luck still out. Wide receiver Donte Moncrief is shaping up to be a game-time decision as he deals with foot issues. The Dolphins have running back Lamar Miller and wide receivers Jarvis Landry, Rishard Matthews and DeVante Parker on the injury report; Matthews is a genuine question mark, looking unlikely to play, but the rest should be good to go.
The Dolphins host the Colts Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Now for a look at the fantasy names to consider:
COLTS
Start ‘em?: In his last five games, Frank Gore put up 14 once, but 19 combined in the other four. He's a decent flex option and that's it. ... T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief have seen their production become much more inconsistent given the Colts' quarterback issues this season. ... The struggles of the Indianapolis offense have hurt Adam Vinatieri's kicking upside.
Sit ‘em: It started well for Matt Hasselbeck as the Indianapolis starter but he's fallen apart, with 20 combined fantasy points in his last three games. He can't possibly be trusted. ... If perchance Moncrief can't play, Philip Dorsett will see a bump in usage, but he's not a fantasy option. ... Coby Fleener has 11 combined fantasy points in the last six games. ... The Colts' defense hasn't been awful, but it lacks enough upside to use in a fantasy playoff matchup.
DOLPHINS
Start ‘em: If you have Lamar Miller, you’re still using him in a great matchup. But between injury and usage, he is still very risky.
Start ‘em?: The last three weeks, Jarvis Landry has totaled only 14 fantasy points. He’s really fallen off. ... The Dolphins’ defense has been in the negative seven times this year, but as banged up as Hasselbeck is, any defense is worth at least a look.
Sit ‘em: In Week 12, Ryan Tannehill put up 22 fantasy points. In his seven most recent games, he's averaged 12.1 fantasy points a game. That's not a fantasy starter. ... The last few weeks, Jay Ajayi has been increasingly taking touches from Miller, but for now all he is is a vulture and not a fantasy contributor on his own. ... Even with Rishard Matthews likely out, DeVante Parker is too boom-or-bust to trust on the field. ... Jordan Cameron has four fantasy points in his last four games. ... Andrew Franks has two or fewer fantasy points in four of his last five.
