Fantasy football advice, Week 16: Who to start/sit for Bears vs. Buccaneers

Remember when these teams were briefly good?

The Chicago Bears were briefly supposed to be contenders this season, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers got some murmurs as well. Instead, as we enter Week 16 and the scheduled game between the two, the Buccaneers are 6-8, the Bears are 5-9, and neither is making any sort of playoff run.

It looks like the Bears won't have wide receiver Alshon Jeffery Sunday as he deals with a hamstring issue, but wide receiver Eddie Royal should play through his injuries. The Buccaneers, meanwhile, won't have wide receiver Vincent Jackson on the field.

Chicago heads south for Sunday’s game at Tampa Bay. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at the fantasy names to consider:

BEARS

Start ‘em: The Bears eased Matt Forte back in during his first game back from injury, but in the three games since that, he's averaged 14 fantasy points and is a certain must-start. ... Zach Miller should see the biggest bump from the team's injury absences.

Start ‘em?: The re-rise of Forte has Jeremy Langford down the rankings. He's put up exactly five fantasy points in three straight.

Sit ‘em: There have been some good matchups on the slate for Jay Cutler, but he's averaged only 11.6 fantasy points a game in his last five and is missing Alshon Jeffery now. ... Even Jeffery's absence isn't enough to give Eddie Royal much fantasy value. ... The misses of late by Robbie Gould make him impossible to trust. ... The Bears' defense isn't likely to slow down the Tampa Bay weapons much.

BUCCANEERS

Start ‘em: Against the Bears, Doug Martin should almost certainly continue his string of games with nine-plus fantasy points, which is currently at six straight, averaging 13 a game in that time. ... Mike Evans hasn't been as consistent as you'd like, but he still has elite upside.

Start ‘em?: The last six games, Jameis Winston has put up 12-29-13-18-13-18 fantasy points. That's an inconsistent pace, but a high floor. ... Even with Martin doing well, Charles Sims has seven fantasy points in three straight games. ... Austin Seferian-Jenkins is getting enough targets to be a high-upside TE2.

Sit ‘em: He put up 13 fantasy points in Week 15, but Connor Barth hadn't cracked double digits in five straight games before that. ... The Buccaneers' defense has 10 combined fantasy points in its last four games.

SUMMARY

Start in every league: Matt Forte, Zach Miller, Doug Martin, Mike Evans
Start if you're desperate: Jeremy Langford, Jameis Winston, Charles Sims, Austin Seferian-Jenkins
Bench: Jay Cutler, Eddie Royal, Robbie Gould, Chicago defense, Connor Barth, Tampa Bay defense
