Fantasy football advice, Week 16: Who to start/sit for Steelers vs. Ravens
These are two teams going in opposite directions.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have won three in a row to rise to 9-5 and now find themselves in the thick of the AFC playoff race. Sunday, they take on the 4-10 Baltimore Ravens, losers of three in a row and almost out of offensive weapons.
Once you get past all the Ravens who are already on injured reserve, these two teams come into Sunday's game largely healthy. The closest thing to a fantasy contributor who is out this week on either side is Baltimore wide receiver Marlon Brown.
The Steelers head to Baltimore for Sunday’s 1 p.m. ET scheduled start. Let’s take a look at the fantasy names to consider:
STEELERS
Start ‘em: This promises to be a good matchup for the Pittsburgh offense, meaning you are definitely starting Ben Roethlisberger, DeAngelo Williams, Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant. ... Chris Boswell has been a fantasy monster, which makes sense kicking for that sort of defense. ... The Steelers' defense is good-not-great, but the Baltimore offense could be truly awful.
Sit ‘em: If you're stretching, there's an argument for Markus Wheaton this week, but better to play it safe. ... Heath Miller hasn't been anything special most of the year.
RAVENS
Start ‘em: Since Steve Smith Sr. went down, Kamar Aiken has averaged 10.5 fantasy points a game. That's a fantasy starter.
Start ‘em?: After a few decent games, Buck Allen has really struggled the last few weeks and now gets a tough matchup. Tread lightly.
Sit ‘em: The Ravens haven't officially named their starting quarterback for Week 16, but whether it's Ryan Mallett, Jimmy Clausen or Matt Schaub, just say no. ... The Ravens put Crockett Gillmore on injured reserve, leaving Maxx Williams as the team's top tight end, but he's not a fantasy option. ... Justin Tucker has seen his numbers go way down of late. ... The Ravens' defense has had a few decent moments lately, but against Pittsburgh that's just a non-starter.
