Fantasy football advice, Week 16: Who to start/sit for Seahawks vs. Rams
Can Seattle stay hot all the way into the playoffs?
The Seattle Seahawks had a sluggish start to the season, puttering along to a 4-5 record at midseason. Since then, they've won five in a row to re-establish themselves as one of the league's stronger teams. Meanwhile, the St. Louis Rams started decently before falling to 4-8, but they've won two in a row to get their season back to the decent side of things. Sunday, the two face off.
The Rams should have their full complement of fantasy contributors ready to go for Sunday's game. On the Seattle side, running back Marshawn Lynch will miss another game. The team also has questions about wide receivers Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse. Kearse will play, and Baldwin, after getting in a full practice Friday, looks likely to go as well.
The Seahawks will host the Rams Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at the fantasy names we’re considering:
RAMS
Start ‘em: Even in a bad matchup, you're using Todd Gurley. The Seahawks are stout, but the best running backs just get used.
Sit ‘em: Last week was the best game Case Keenum has had in some time. And that means absolutely nothing as far as using him this week is concerned. ... Playing against the Seahawks means any questionable Ram gets benched. That includes Tavon Austin, Kenny Britt, Jared Cook and Greg Zuerlein. ... The Rams' defense has really struggled lately, while the Seahawks' offense has been white-hot.
SEAHAWKS
Start ‘em: The Seattle offense is clicking as well as any team in a while. Russell Wilson has been the driving force, and he is one of the best options across football this week. ... It looks like Doug Baldwin's injury won't hold him out this week, and as hot as he's been, that means he needs to be in all lineups. ... Steven Hauschka's numbers haven't kept pace with those of the rest of the offense, but he's still a fantasy starter. ... The Seahawks' defense gets to face Keenum at home. Yay.
Start ‘em?: It was a mild surprise that Christine Michael was Seattle's lead running back last week. It'll be a mild surprise if he isn't this week. He's a high-end flex option. ... With the possibility that Baldwin is at less than 100 percent, Tyler Lockett is a very intriguing flex option. Extreme upside. ... Jermaine Kearse has seven-plus fantasy points in three of his last four. He's a decent flex play.
Sit ‘em: With Michael in as the team's No. 1, Fred Jackson and Bryce Brown don't have much fantasy upside. ... Luke Willson hasn't been any sort of beneficiary of the team's offensive explosion.
