Fantasy football advice, Week 16: Who to start/sit for Bengals vs. Broncos on Monday night
These two teams need to right the ship before the playoffs arrive.

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports
The 11-3 Cincinnati Bengals and 10-4 Denver Broncos should come into Week 16 looking ahead to the playoffs, resting starters, and preparing for the postseason. Instead, the Bengals have to figure out if they can win with a backup quarterback, while the Broncos have to do that and continue to win games; they haven't even locked up a playoff spot yet. The two face off Monday to cap off the season's penultimate week.
The Bengals will be without quarterback Andy Dalton and tight end Tyler Eifert for the second straight week Monday. The Broncos will be missing quarterback Peyton Manning for another week, but his replacement, Brock Osweiler, should be fine to play, along with tight end Owen Daniels. Running back C.J. Anderson has slightly more risk, but odds are he'll be fine to play as well.
The Broncos host the Bengals Monday, with the game scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at the fantasy considerations:
BENGALS
Start ‘em: There was some injury concern surrounding A.J. Green early in the week, but he appears to be fine, and even in a bad matchup, that makes him a fantasy starter. ... The offense might lean on Mike Nugent Monday, which could mean good things. ... The Bengals' defense could feast on the diminished Denver offense.
Start ‘em?: Neither Jeremy Hill nor Giovani Bernard has offered anything remotely resembling consistent production this year; either one could have a decent game, but veritable goose-eggs are also on the table.
Sit ‘em: There's a chance AJ McCarron might be a decent quarterback with a strong offense around him, but against Denver isn't the time to test that idea. ... Playing against Denver means it's hard to trust Marvin Jones. ... With Tyler Eifert out, Tyler Kroft will start at tight end. He scored a week ago, but still, there are better options elsewhere.
BRONCOS
Start ‘em: The Denver offense isn't strong enough right now to consistently offer two strong receivers; Demaryius Thomas is the one you want. ... The Broncos' defense isn't playing as well lately as it did early in the season, but against a backup quarterback it's still a must-start unit.
Start ‘em?: The Denver running game has been miserable; Ronnie Hillman is the only one worth consideration, and even then he is only a flex play. ... Emmanuel Sanders had a monster Week 15, but he was barely there the two weeks before. Tread lightly.
Sit ‘em: It was a huge Week 15 for Brock Osweiler, with 28 fantasy points, but that came almost entirely in the first half, and he's not consistent enough to count on. ... Injury and ineffectiveness have C.J. Anderson out of real fantasy consideration right now. ... Neither Owen Daniels nor Vernon Davis offer much fantasy upside. ... Brandon McManus has six or fewer fantasy points in six of his last seven games. That's not great.
