Green Bay Packers
Few could have predicted that a team as prolific as the Green Bay Packers would struggle to win more than one game in over a month, but that’s exactly the situation the team finds itself in. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has posted two absolute duds in the last five games. Week 13’s game against the Detroit Lions represents an opportunity to put together a solid performance and bounce back however. In Week 10’s loss to the Lions, Rodgers threw for 333 yards and two touchdowns. He lost the game but fantasy owners won’t care about the end result this week as long as he posts big individual stats this time around.
The same could be said for running back Eddie Lacy. Since missing the Week 10 matchup against Detroit, Lacy has rushed for at least 100 yards in each of the last two games. He appears to finally be over his injury woes, which have seen him put up limited numbers during much of the season. The Lions don’t exactly boast the most intimidating run defense in the league. Lacy might get over the 100-yard mark for the third week in a row.
Detroit Lions
Calvin Johnson posted arguably his best fantasy numbers of the season last week against the Philadelphia Eagles. He’s not the first receiver this season to feast on Philadelphia, but nevertheless he performed. Megatron caught eight passes for 93 yards and three touchdowns. The outburst of touchdowns doubled his season total to six. He hasn’t had the season most fantasy owners envisioned he would when they drafted him, but that doesn’t mean Johnson isn’t premier receiver. It’s been a rough year so far but it’s not over yet. It’s important to keep in mind that Johnson has scored a touchdown against the Packers in four out of the last six games he’s played against them.
Another Lions receiver that doubled his touchdown total last week was Golden Tate. He caught seven passes for just 50 yards against the Eagles, but one of those catches did get him into the end zone. Tate doesn’t provide owners with huge yardage totals, but he definitely has value in PPR leagues, as evidenced by the fact he’s caught 15 passes over the last two games combined. Tate could be an under the radar receiver this week against the Packers.
