Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant has been sent to injured reserve, effectively ending his season, the team announced Wednesday.
Dez Bryant sent to injured reserve, nightmare fantasy season over
The Cowboys pulled the plug on Dez Bryant for 2015. We break down the fantasy implications.

Bryant suffered a Jones fracture in the first game of the season, and its effects may have lingered throughout the year despite returning to action in Week 8. Knee, ankle and foot injuries hampered Bryant throughout the course of the year, and with the Cowboys having nothing to play for in Week 17, the team decided to pull the plug on a lost first year of a five-year contract.
Fantasy impact: Bryant still has immense long-term fantasy value with a clean bill of health in his future, especially with Tony Romo’s return in 2016 on the horizon. A toxic quarterback situation in 2015, as well as Bryant’s own health led to career lows in catches, yards and touchdowns.
In a meaningless Week 17, expect Terrance Williams, Cole Beasley and Jason Witten to soak up targets, but none of the three are preferred fantasy options at their position. The Cowboys receiving game is one to avoid at all costs for the regular season finale, even against a Washington team locked in its playoff seeding.
