New York Jets running back Bilal Powell was held out of Thursday's practice session due to an ankle injury, the team announced.
Bilal Powell sits Thursday’s practice, fantasy status unclear
The Jets’ passing down back missed his second straight practice on Thursday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Powell sat out Wednesday as well and has been limited between games, although he does not appear to be in danger of missing Week 17's "win and in" game against the Buffalo Bills. Powell totaled 90 yards in Week 16's win over the Patriots and has totaled at least 79 yards in five of his last six games, forming a legitimate tandem attack with Chris Ivory.
Fantasy impact: Fantasy owners will have to check Friday’s practice report before penning Powell into their lineups, but it would be difficult to envision the Jets keeping him out of action for what is essentially a playoff game for them. A loss would put them at risk for missing the postseason altogether, and Powell would boost their chances of avoiding that.
Powell is a sneaky RB2 in PPR leagues and deserves flex consideration in standard formats against an unraveling Bills defense for Week 17.
