Philadelphia Eagles running back Ryan Mathews has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the New England Patriots, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Ryan Mathews ruled out Sunday, can be left on fantasy benches
The Eagles will be without Ryan Mathews for a third straight game. We break down the fantasy implications.
Mathews suffered a concussion in Week 10 against the Miami Dolphins and has not been able to practice since. After sitting out another week of preparation due to his injury, it was an expected call for Eagles' brass to make. Kenjon Barner will once again take Mathews' place in the backfield, with Demarco Murray and Darren Sproles leading the charge.
Fantasy impact: As long as Mathews is out of action, fantasy owners will continue to see Murray take the lion’s share of touches. However, the Eagles offense has hit a rut, and there’s no guarantee that production will be found amid an offense that used to be one of the NFL’s most potent.
Mathews will remain on fantasy benches across the board, while Murray is more of an RB2 in Week 13 with a tough matchup with the New England Patriots on the horizon. Barner and Sproles aren’t worth fantasy consideration for Sunday.
