Fantasy football projections, Week 13: Jaguars-Titans featuring Blake Bortles, Allen Robinson and Antonio Andrews
We break down the Week 13 matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tennessee Titans.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Although there are many young quarterbacks in the NFL who seem to get more publicity than Blake Bortles, it’s clear the second-year starter is a worthy candidate at the quarterback position these days. Bortles and the Jaguars fell to the San Diego Chargers last week, but he did attempt 49 passes and complete 30 of them for 329 yards and two touchdowns. In reality it was a difficult day for Bortles, but the fantasy stats don’t know the difference. He didn’t play that well against the Titans two weeks ago, but Bortles has some pretty good receivers at his disposal and they could expose the Titans this week.
One of those receivers is Allen Robinson. Robinson has been targeted at least 11 times in three of the last four games. Last week he turned his 11 targets into five catches for 56 receiving yards and a touchdown. His numbers weren’t the greatest, but Robinson has either 100 yards receiving or a touchdown in each of the last four games. His ability to put up points on a consistent basis is there, and there’s always the potential for a monster game with a receiver as talented as he is.
Tennessee Titans
It seems at times that Marcus Mariota has some trouble taking care of the football. That’s to be expected from a rookie. He threw two interceptions last week against the Oakland Raiders, but at the same time he managed to find three touchdown passes and 218 passing yards. The good balanced out the bad and gave Mariota a serviceable amount of fantasy points in standard formats. He will need to be a little better in order to beat the Jaguars on Sunday. If he can take care of the football, putting up better numbers is a distinct possibility.
If Mariota should struggle again, running back Antonio Andrews might be worth a look. He doesn’t run fast but he’s the most capable running back the team has. He ran for just 32 yards last week, but Jacksonville isn’t that good at defending the running game. Hitting the 90-yard mark on the ground might be a bit of a stretch, but 75 yards and a touchdown isn’t out of the question for Andrews. Only deeper leagues will benefit from the services, however. Just keep that in mind.
