Fantasy football projections, Week 13: Seahawks-Vikings featuring Doug Baldwin, Thomas Rawls and Adrian Peterson
We break down the Week 13 matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and the Minnesota Vikings.
Seattle Seahawks
Now that tight end Jimmy Graham is out for the remainder of the season thanks to a torn patellar tendon, Luke Willson will take over at the position. Willson is regarded as not much of a pass catcher, but a better blocker than Graham. That fact alone should create more room for running back Thomas Rawls. Rawls carried the ball 21 times for 81 yards and a touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. With Marshawn Lynch still out for a while thanks to sports hernia surgery, Rawls will likely be busy against Minnesota.
So is wide receiver Doug Baldwin. Baldwin has quietly garnered consideration on the waiver wire thanks to solid play in each of the last three weeks. Given that Graham is now out for the season, Baldwin’s stock gets a further bump up. He had the best game of his career last week against the Steelers, catching six passes for 145 yards and three touchdowns. It remains to be seen whether he continues to be on fire against the Vikings, but anybody looking to take a flyer on a receiver at this point in the season could do much worse.
Minnesota Vikings
Dating back to Week 7, Adrian Peterson has rushed for at least 98 yards in all but one game. After a slow start to the season, it’s clear that he’s firing on all cylinders. He has at least 125 yards rushing in four of the last five games and last week against the Atlanta Falcons, All Day amassed 158 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Nobody can stop him when he’s at his best, and although trying to top Seattle is always a daunting task, Peterson should be up for the challenge.
He may have to carry a heavy workload if the Vikings’ inept receiving corps struggles against Richard Sherman and company. Only Stefon Diggs warrants any consideration in the Vikings’ passing game. He got off to a hot start since making his debut in Week 4 against the Denver Broncos, but over the course of the last month it seems that opposing defenses have figured him out. Fantasy owners might be taking a gamble by starting Diggs against the Seahawks, but the kid does have a lot of talent.
