Fantasy football projections, Week 13: Jets-Giants featuring Ryan Fitzpatrick, Brandon Marshall and Odell Beckham Jr.
We break down the Week 13 matchup between the New York Jets and the New York Giants.
New York Jets
Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick just garnered some consideration across fantasy football waiver wires this week. He’s had a pretty solid year all around, but everything came together last week against the Miami Dolphins. Fitzpatrick threw for 277 yards and a season-high four touchdown passes. He hadn’t thrown more than two in a game before that. Fitzpatrick is facing a Giants defense that has allowed the second-most fantasy points to quarterbacks in the NFL this season. He’s a great candidate to start this week, especially in deeper leagues.
So is veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall. Marshall benefited from Fitzpatrick’s big day and posted a big day of his own against the Dolphins last week, catching nine out of 11 targets for 131 yards and two touchdowns. The performance marked Marshall’s first 100-yard game since Week 8. He’s bound to have off days given his advanced age and the fact that he’s been doing it for so long, but Week 13 against the Giants is looking like a tasty matchup.
New York Giants
As hot as the Jets were last week, quarterback Eli Manning was almost equally cold against Washington. While he did throw for over 300 yards and two touchdown passes, Manning was also picked off three times in the contest. The loss now means the Giants face an uphill battle if they hope to make the playoffs. A win over the Jets would be a good start, but starting Manning against the boys in green and white may not be a good idea. His performance on Sunday could go either way.
It likely won’t make a difference to owners of Odell Beckham Jr. Beckham was targeted a whopping 18 times last week against Washington, catching half of his passes for 142 yards and a touchdown. As sound as the Jets have been defensively over the last number of years, they have been fairly generous to fantasy wide receivers. Beckham should be able to capitalize on that and continue paying dividends across all kinds of fantasy formats.
