Fantasy football projections, Week 13: Colts-Steelers featuring Donte Moncrief, Markus Wheaton and Antonio Brown
We break down the Week 13 matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Indianapolis Colts
Wide receiver Donte Moncrief posted his second 100-yard game of the season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. He caught eight passes for 114 yards in the team’s win over the Bucs. Although quarterback Andrew Luck is still at least another week away from returning to the lineup thanks to a lacerated kidney, Moncrief should be able to follow up with a strong effort against the Steelers, a team that has allowed the second-most fantasy points to wide receivers in the NFL this season.
As good as Moncrief was last week, teammate T.Y. Hilton played just as well. He caught six of 12 targets for 95 yards and two touchdowns. Hilton only has five scores on the season and he hasn’t exactly had the year that most fantasy owners envisioned he would. The good news is he still has time to rectify some of his value. It seems that having Matt Hasselbeck under center isn’t the worst thing in the world either. The quarterback has done fairly well filling in for Mr. Luck.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Markus Wheaton had a career day against the Seattle Seahawks last week to the tune of nine catches for 201 receiving yards and a touchdown. It was an outstanding breakout performance, one that has garnered him consideration on the waiver wire this week. That said, coach Mike Tomlin mentioned after the fact that Wheaton’s performance was largely based on the team’s game plan to avoid the Antonio Brown and Richard Sherman matchup. That certainly discounts Wheaton’s performance a bit. He might be worth taking a flyer on against the Colts, just to see if he continues his hot play for a second straight week.
Speaking of the matchup between Sherman and Brown, the Steelers’ top receiver got shut down last week. Brown caught six passes for 51 yards in the game. The stats won’t worry owners though, because Brown will be back on top of his game against a much friendlier Colts defense. Despite some rough patches this year thanks to injuries at the quarterback position, Brown is the NFL’s top receiver, both in reality and fantasy football.
