Fantasy football advice, Week 13: Who to start/sit for Bengals vs. Browns
Can the Browns cut into the Bengals decided rivalry advantage?
Man, you'd think the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns would have a better rivalry. Unfortunately, the Bengals have been perennial contenders in recent years, while the Browns have failed to get out of their own way long enough to put together a winning season 2007, or more than one since 2002. Sunday, they play each other for the second time this season, after Cincinnati won the first matchup 31-10.
The Bengals are likely to be without tight end Tyler Eifert Sunday after suffering a pinched nerve in his back in Week 12. The team will still have a Tyler at tight end, though it will be Tyler Kroft, not Eifert. As for the Browns, wide receivers Andrew Hawkins and Taylor Gabriel will both miss Sunday's game with concussions.
The Bengals head to Cleveland for Sunday’s game, which is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at the fantasy names to consider:
BENGALS
Start ‘em: After an up-and-down stretch, Andy Dalton has put together two good games in a row, and should be back to comfortable QB1 status against the Browns. ... With Tyler Eifert (probably) out, A.J. Green has even higher upside than normal. ... That's seven games in a row with at least seven fantasy points for Mike Nugent. ... The Bengals' defense is very strong, and draws a quarterback who is only starting because Johnny Manziel keeps misbehaving. Use them everywhere.
Start ‘em?: If the Bengals had one trustworthy running back, that guy would be an easy start in a nice matchup. But with Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard both there, it's just really hard to know who will be better week to week. Both are high-end flex options. ... Marvin Jones should see a good number of targets.
Sit ‘em: There's not much appeal to Tyler Kroft, despite sharing a first name with the guy he's replacing.
BROWNS
Start ‘em: At this point, you're starting Gary Barnidge in every game, no matter who is throwing him the ball.
Start ‘em?: If you're looking for a dart-throw wide receiver, Travis Benjamin has intrigue, though it's possible his quarterback will cost him.
Sit ‘em: There's no reason to be putting Austin Davis out there in fantasy. ... Isaiah Crowell and Duke Johnson Jr. have combined for exactly zero player-games of double-digit fantasy points in the last six games. ... Travis Coons hasn't cracked 10 fantasy points since Week 5. ... The Browns' defense had 19 fantasy points in Week 2. It has 20 in nine games combined since.
