Fantasy football projections, Week 13: Cowboys-Washington featuring Terrance Williams, Dez Bryant and DeSean Jackson
We break down the Week 13 matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Washington.
Dallas Cowboys
It’s bad news bears for Tony Romo fantasy owners. He injured his collarbone again last week and it appears Romo is done for the season. What’s worse is that his absence will have a negative effect on wide receiver Dez Bryant. For what it’s worth, the Cowboys’ star receiver only managed to put together 26 yards against the Carolina Panthers last week anyway. He might be able to put up some numbers against Washington this week just because he’s that good of a player, but as this season has taught us, the Cowboys offense is nothing without a quarterback.
It has also taught us that Terrance Williams’ fantasy value is almost nothing without Romo tossing the football. Owners who took a speculative shot at adding him to the lineup last week are likely dropping Williams now. He was targeted seven times last week, but the Cowboys’ second option has been nowhere to be found this season with Matt Cassel calling the shots. An outburst against Washington would indeed be a surprise performance for Williams.
Washington
It seems as though quarterback Kirk Cousins is alternating between posting solid fantasy numbers and posting horrible ones. Last week he posted his fourth 300-yard passing game of the season against the New York Giants. Cousins only threw one touchdown in the game but he managed to rush for another. He might be inspired to play well in back-to-back games for the first time all year against the Cowboys, given that a win would pretty much crush his opponents’ chances of making the playoffs. Cousins could surprise some people this week.
Hopefully he does for DeSean Jackson’s sake. Jackson only caught two passes last week, but he managed to post 66 receiving yards and scored a touchdown for the second week in a row. He can be a boom or bust player, as has been the case his entire career, but that’s the nature of the beast when you’re an explosive, downfield threat. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Jackson get behind the Cowboys secondary unit and scorer for the third week in a row.
