Arizona Cardinals running back Chris Johnson hopes to be off crutches by Friday, according to Kent Somers of AZCentral Sports.
Chris Johnson may be off crutches by Friday, but fantasy impact for 2015 is finished
The Cardinals’ leading rusher in 2015 continues to make progress in recovery from a fractured tibia. We break down the fantasy implications.

Johnson fractured his tibia in Week 12's victory over the San Francisco 49ers, and has been placed on injured reserve with a designation to return. As a result, Johnson could only return to the Cardinals this season if they were to make the Super Bowl. Somers added that Johnson won't need surgery for his injury, which speeds his recovery, and it's possible that the Cardinals could get a boon to their backfield if they embark on a deep playoff run.
Fantasy impact: It's a nice footnote for fantasy owners to keep in mind for 2016 keepers, but it's likely a moot point if David Johnson continues his current upward trajectory. The rookie from Northern Iowa appears to have seized primary backfield duties for the foreseeable future after totaling 120 yards on 24 touches while finding the end zone for the ninth time in 2015.
Though Chris Johnson's resurgent 2015 was halted abruptly, he likely bought a few more years of viability among fantasy owners depending on where he ends up in 2016. David Johnson is a RB1 for Week 14 against the Vikings.
