New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram is dealing with a serious shoulder injury that could be season-ending, according to NFL Network's Rand Getlin.
Mark Ingram may be out for the season, per report; fantasy owners must readjust lineups
The Saints could be without their featured running back for the remainder of the season. We break down the fantasy implications.
Ingram had popped up on the injury report during Week 12 but had always been listed as probable, totaling 97 and 80 yards in those two games, respectively, and finding the end zone in Week 13 against the Carolina Panthers. His absence would leave a committee of C.J. Spiller, Tim Hightower and Marcus Murphy in the backfield.
Fantasy impact: Ingram’s injury could not have come at a worse time for his fantasy owners, who were rewarded by his consistency each week. Ingram currently ranks fourth among running backs in fantasy points in standard leagues, and third in PPR formats. Spiller should now be owned in leagues of all formats in case Ingram’s season is in fact over, although fantasy owners cannot be blamed for being hesitant to trust him.
Ingram would remain in RB1 territory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers if he plays, and Spiller would be a dicey flex option in PPR leagues.
