San Diego Chargers running back Melvin Gordon will not play in the second preseason game. His ankle injury is minor and Gordon has already been back at practice. He'll be ready for Week 1.
Melvin Gordon dealing with a minor ankle injury, fantasy value is fine
Melvin Gordon has an ankle issue. We break down the fantasy implications.

Gordon is fully expected to get the lion's share of the carries at tailback. He's not nearly as adept in the passing game, so running back Danny Woodhead will be getting most of the snaps on passing downs. While the Chargers have focused on trying to be more balanced, they'll likely be counting on the strong, heavily paid arm of quarterback Philip Rivers.
The Chargers have a pretty solid offense and have turned guys like Branden Oliver into solid assets in fantasy leagues. Gordon is the superior talent and could hit 1,000 yards in his first year. He is going in the third round of most drafts and that is definitely a fair evaluation. There's plenty of risk when you're drafting a rookie, but Gordon has the ceiling to be a strong RB1.
