Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz (groin) could be ready to play for Week 1 against the Falcons on Monday Night Football. Ertz still has not been practicing and he was expected to miss 6-8 weeks from his core muscle injury back on Aug. 14.
Zach Ertz could start and have fantasy value in Week 1
Zach Ertz could be ready for Week 1. We break down the fantasy implications.

Eagles offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur is “assuming” Ertz will be ready. “Behind the scenes he’s taking care of all his treatment, obligations, he’s in all the meetings and he’s doing everything he can physically,” Shurmur said. “He’s right there mentally. He’s a guy that’s been around here a while, he knows what we’re doing. It’s just a matter of him getting out there and practicing.”
Fantasy analysis: For now, Ertz seems to be on the bad side of a questionable tag for Week 1, which will be on Sept. 14. The Eagles could have him back at some point in September, so he’s certainly worth a look in drafts.
Before the injury, Ertz was getting some buzz as a top-five tight end. With some optimism and only guys like Greg Olsen, Travis Kelce and maybe even Tyler Eifert gaining some buzz this month, fantasy owners can target Ertz as the sixth to ninth tight end off the board.
