After eight years with the Buffalo Bills, Fred Jackson has been released from the team. NFL writer Vic Carucci reported on Monday that the veteran running back was cut as the team whittles their roster down to 75 players. The move was likely a financial decision on Buffalo's part, as Jackson was set to make $2.35 million in 2015.
Fred Jackson released by Bills, fantasy value on hold
The Bills released running back Fred Jackson on Monday. We take a look at the fantasy implications.

Jackson made his 2015 preseason debut on Saturday after missing several weeks with a hamstring injury. He rushed for an impressive 48 yards on just five carries. He also scored a touchdown. Despite signing LeSean McCoy in the offseason, it was presumed that Jackson would offer a veteran presence in Buffalo. He now has close to two weeks to be signed and acclimated to a new team.
Fantasy impact: Jackson wasn’t going to be much of a fantasy asset as long as McCoy was healthy. Now, he has a chance to see more of a workload on an offense that could use his experience. At 34 years old, Jackson’s ceiling is limited. However, he has a very real chance of entering fantasy discussions if placed on the right team.
