Perhaps no fantasy storyline was as surprising as San Diego Chargers running back Danny Woodhead getting the goal line work and scoring twice. He was basically getting Melvin Gordon's role near the goal line on top of his responsibilities on third down. Is this going to continue?
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 2: Danny Woodhead
Danny Woodhead’s fantasy owners drafted more than they bargained for. Can they expect it to continue?
Well, the San Diego Union-Tribune is expecting Gordon to get his chance in the near future. “I would guess so,” offensive coordinator Frank Reich said. “It hasn’t intentionally happened like that. We’d like to see [Gordon] get more than his share.”
It still feels like Woodhead is going to be ahead of Gordon, but there is even more to be concerned about heading into Week 2. The Chargers will have to take on the Cincinnati Bengals on the road. The Bengals’ front seven looked great in Week 1 and should be able to put the clamps on the running game, especially with Chargers offensive lineman D.J. Fluker hurt.
Fantasy impact: If you’re in a PPR league, it certainly makes sense to start Woodhead. However, he’s more of a flex in standards due to the bad matchup.
