Perhaps no player lost more momentum in Week 1 than Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin. He was all the rage in the preseason and saw his fantasy average draft position (ADP) rise all the way to the fifth round.
Fantasy start/sit advice, Week 2: Doug Martin looks to bounce back
The Bucs were the laughingstock of Week 1. Should fantasy owners expect Doug Martin to turn it around in Week 2?
Well, even in a favorable matchup against the Tennessee Titans in Week 1, Martin mustered up just 52 rushing yards and two receiving yards on just 12 touches. The Bucs as a unit had just 92 rushing yards on 26 carries.
The Bucs were blown out so badly that Martin was out-snapped by running back Charles Sims. The Bucs are double-digit underdogs against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, which means we might see more of Sims than Martin yet again.
On the bright side, the Saints defense looks to be in trouble for much of the season. The Arizona Cardinals were able to put up 120 rushing yards on 25 carries even though they didn’t have any run over 18 yards. Plus, their pass offense shredded the Saints for 307 yards.
Fantasy impact: Yes, there’s some concern of a blowout, but the matchup is too good for Martin to be on the bench. At worst, he’s probably a flex for you.
