San Diego Chargers running back Melvin Gordon had a quiet start to his career. Running back Danny Woodhead stole his thunder with two scores in the Week 1 win over the Detroit Lions. On the season, Gordon has 139 rushing yards and 26 receiving yards, but no touchdowns.
Fantasy start/sit advice, Week 3: Melvin Gordon starting to come on
Melvin Gordon showed some flashes in Week 2. Can his fantasy owners unleash him in their starting lineups?
He looked sharp on Sunday against a solid Cincinnati Bengals defense. Gordon had three runs of at least 20 yards in the game and was the first Charger to do so since LaDainian Tomlinson in 2007. He's a natural one-cut-and-go back and the Chargers are likely going to count on him a lot against the Minnesota Vikings.
San Francisco 49ers running back Carlos Hyde has a similar style to how he attacks the line of scrimmage, and he torched the Vikings in Week 1 with 168 yards and two scores. Expect Gordon to be used early and often.
Fantasy impact: Gordon could be let loose on Sunday for 20 carries and has a decent chance to get his first touchdown. He’s almost a must-start player this week.
