Jonathan Stewart injury update: Panthers RB is active for Week 3, ready to go for fantasy value
Jonathan Stewart will play Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.
He hasn't done well to date this season, totaling just 118 rushing yards on 35 carries this season. The Panthers have actually used quarterback Cam Newton for 24 carries, including around the goal line on designed runs.
Stewart gets a great matchup against the Saints. He has torched them in his last six games, averaging 6.7 yards per carry in that span. Plus, the Saints are likely not going to be able to score many points with quarterback Drew Brees out and backup Luke McCown in. If the Panthers can get a big lead, Stewart could find himself getting over 20 carries, which would obviously be gold considering his success against the Saints.
Fantasy impact: There’s always risk on Stewart and he’s yet to perform as a start-worthy back. However, this is his best chance yet and he’s a solid RB2 this week.
