Marcus Mariota set to start against Vikings, fantasy future promising
Titans rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota will get a chance to close out the preseason under center. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: The Titans are shaping up to be one of the worst teams in the NFL this season, but that’s usually the type of situation a highly touted top draft pick finds himself in, and Mariota is one of those players. He completed seven of 11 passes for 99 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs last week and teammate Zach Mettenberger isn’t about to give the coaching staff reason to shy away from starting a rookie that’s exhibiting potential.
Fantasy owners can wait on adding Mariota to their roster, as is usually the case with most rookie quarterbacks. If he manages to prove himself early though, the waiver wire additions could pick up in a real hurry, especially considering Mariota plays on a team with one of the league’s worst defenses and running games, meaning he’ll likely be throwing the ball a lot throughout the year. He could also rack up fantasy points in garbage-time scenarios, which should come aplenty in Tennessee this year.
