The Philadelphia Eagles traded quarterback Matt Barkley for a conditional seventh-round pick on Friday, according to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer.
Matt Barkley traded to Cardinals, remains off fantasy radar
Barkley was traded on Friday before roster deadline day. We break down the fantasy implications.
The Eagles had at most one roster spot for Barkley and quarterback Tim Tebow, and there have been rumors for months of the Eagles putting Barkley on the block. He almost certainly would have been cut on Saturday, but the Cardinals giving up a seventh-rounder will prevent another team from claiming him off waivers.
The Cardinals sure do like USC quarterbacks. They've drafted Matt Leinart in the top 10 in 2006 and currently have Carson Palmer under center. Barkley will likely be the third-string QB and push Logan Thomas off the roster.
Fantasy impact: Perhaps the biggest fantasy impact is that Tebow will likely make the team. He'd be the third-string QB behind Sam Bradford and Mark Sanchez. Still, he's not a lock to make the roster because the Eagles may only go with two quarterbacks to start the season.
