Fantasy football advice, Week 17: Who to start/sit for Eagles vs. Giants
One of these teams will end the season with at least a slightly positive taste in its mouth.

Both the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants were eliminated from playoff contention when Philadelphia lost to Washington in Week 16. So when the two face off Sunday, there's nothing but pride on the line. Both teams, though, would like to end the season on a high note. Philadelphia fired coach Chip Kelly over the week leading up to this game, and New York, off of an embarrassing Week 16 loss, would like to prove something before it's all said and done.
The only fantasy-relevant member of the Eagles on the injury report is kicker Caleb Sturgis, who should play despite a hamstring issue. For the Giants, the team should have its full complement of fantasy-relevant players ready to go Sunday.
The Giants host the Eagles Sunday in the season finale. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET, and here’s a look at the fantasy names we’re considering:
EAGLES
Start ‘em: In his last five games, Jordan Matthews has nine-plus fantasy points four times, topping out at 21 and averaging 11.8 in that time. He's re-become a fantasy starter. ... Zach Ertz is closing his season on a super-hot stretch, averaging 9.5 in his last four.
Start ‘em?: It's been a bad season for Sam Bradford in his first in Philadelphia, but he's been more productive the last couple weeks, averaging 16.5 fantasy points a game. Against the Giants' fairly porous defense, he's a decent QB2.
Sit ‘em: The Philadelphia run game has been a disaster. DeMarco Murray might have a decent game, or it might be Ryan Mathews, or it might even be Darren Sproles. But you can't possibly use any of the three in fantasy with any confidence at all. ... Caleb Sturgis has been good, not great, with Philadelphia, and his hamstring issue should be enough to put him on benches. ... Take out that game against New England, and the Eagles' defense has averaged negative-3.6 fantasy points a game in its last five.
GIANTS
Start ‘em: With his full complement of weapons back on the field, you can probably feel good about Eli Manning in fantasy lineups again, though last week's disaster game does loom. ... Rashad Jennings has reached double-digit fantasy points in three straight games and gets a generous Philadelphia run defense this week. He needs to be started everywhere. ... Odell Beckham Jr. will have a lot to prove in Week 17. Expect him to be very productive.
Start ‘em?: It took a while for his season to get going, but Rueben Randle has put up 35 fantasy points in his last three games, with 10-plus in all three. ... Will Tye has only cracked 10 fantasy points once, but he's put up seven-plus in four of his last five. He's a high-end TE2.
Sit ‘em: Jennings' rise means you can safely bench Shane Vereen, Andre Williams and Orleans Darkwa. ... Josh Brown has seen his fantasy numbers fall off a lot of late, averaging five points a game in his last five. ... The Giants' defense has totaled three fantasy points in its last five games.
SUMMARY
Start in every league: Jordan Matthews, Zach Ertz, Eli Manning, Rashad Jennings, Odell Beckham Jr.
Start if you're desperate: Sam Bradford, Rueben Randle, Will Tye
Bench: DeMarco Murray, Ryan Mathews, Darren Sproles, Caleb Sturgis, Philadelphia defense, Shane Vereen, Andre Williams, Orleans Darkwa, Josh Brown, New York defense
