The seventh week of the 2016 regular season is just about coming to a close with only the Monday Night Football game remaining. Most fantasy football leagues will run their waiver wires late Tuesday or early Wednesday, but we are here to help you get a jump on the best options to consider.
Week 8 features six teams on bye, which will have a major impact both on positional players and defense/special teams units. We’ll rank out a few D/ST streaming options to get you ready for Week 8. Throughout the week, we will update each of these articles as ownership percentages change (via Yahoo!) and news arrives.
Waiver wire D/ST rankings, Week 8
1. New York Jets (20 percent owned)
The Jets defense managed a double-digit performance against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7, including two interceptions and a fumble recovery. They get the Cleveland Browns in Week 8. The Browns might be starting Kevin Hogan due to Cody Kessler’s concussion.
2. Tennessee Titans (39 percent owned)
The Titans have avoided negative performances, and in Week 8 they get a Jaguars offense that has been inconsistent all season long.
3. Washington (21 percent owned)
Washington has three or more sacks in three straight games, while giving up 20 or fewer points in each matchup. They face the Cincinnati Bengals in London this week. It is not a great matchup, but it has some potential.
4. Chicago Bears (2 percent owned)
The Bears defense has put together positive fantasy performances all season. They have a limited ceiling, but it would appear they also have a fairly high floor. They get Sam Bradford and the Minnesota Vikings, who stumbled in Week 7.
5. Oakland Raiders (46 percent owned)
The Raiders defense has shown improvement as this season has moved along, and are coming off a solid performance at Jacksonville. They have at least one sack in every game this season, and have forced turnovers in all but one game.
