The eighth week of the 2016 regular season is just about coming to a close with only the Monday Night Football game remaining. Most fantasy football leagues will run their waiver wires late Tuesday or early Wednesday, but we are here to help you get a jump on the best options to consider.
We will be ranking the top five players likely to be available in your league at each of the four major positions. Some weeks there might not be five good options available, but we’ll scour for the best we can find. Additionally, throughout the week, we will update each of these articles as ownership percentages change (via Yahoo!) and news arrives.
Waiver wire wide receiver rankings, Week 9
Quincy Enunwa, New York Jets (44 percent owned)
Enunwa had his second straight week with a touchdown, and has 166 yards combined the past two weeks. The big plus was seeing Enunwa go from four targets in Week 7 to 11 targets in Week 8. He has a plus matchup on the road against the Miami Dolphins in Week 9.
Adam Humphries, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (18 percent owned)
The Bucs wide receiver has struggled to do much since his nine-reception, 100-yard performance in Week 3, but he gets a solid matchup in Week 9. The Bucs host an iffy Atlanta Falcons pass defense. It’s a roll of the dice if you have bye week or injury issues, but there is some upside there.
Kendall Wright, Tennessee Titans (Six percent owned)
It is hard to trust a guy who cannot get more than 50 percent of the offensive snaps, but he is showing signs of emerging with Marcus Mariota. Two of the past three weeks, Wright has a touchdown and 80-plus receiving yards. There was a two-reception, 12-yard stinker mixed in, but there is some upside heading into a great Week 9 contest in San Diego.
Kenny Britt, Los Angeles Rams (39 percent owned)
One of the ultimate boom-or-bust types, Britt had 136 yards and two touchdowns in Week 6. That resulted in more fantasy points for him than in Weeks 3, 4, 5, and 7 combined. He gets a good matchup in Week 9 against Carolina, but just know it will probably be boom-or-bust.
Torrey Smith, San Francisco 49ers (22 percent owned)
This is the proverbial Hail Mary play this week. The 49ers host the New Orleans Saints, which could bode well for the passing game. On the other hand, there are rumors the Philadelphia Eagles might try and deal for Smith. Either way, it could be worth a flier on Smith this week.
