Adrian Peterson is inching closer to getting back on the football field. On Wednesday, the Minnesota Vikings designated Peterson as their player to return from injured reserve.
Fantasy implications of Adrian Peterson being designated to return from injured reserve
Adrian Peterson could return to game action any week now, but it will be hard to pinpoint when/if he plays again in the regular season.

That means Peterson is now able to play in games, but the team will probably not activate him right away. Minnesota now has 21 days before they have to make a decision on activating Peterson to the 53-man roster, making him eligible to play in games.
Peterson has been on IR since Week 2 when he suffered a torn meniscus. He was having a rough season before the injury, which has his fantasy stock low even with his impending return.
Fantasy Impact: For now, Peterson can only practice with the Vikings as they look to secure a playoff berth in the coming weeks. At 7-6, Minnesota needs Peterson ASAP, so perhaps that will lead to them activating him soon.
However, Minnesota may roll with Matt Asiata and Jerick McKinnon and allow Peterson to be ready to roll when the NFL playoffs begin. Until there is a clear-cut return date for Peterson, do not bother adding him to your team now that you are in your league’s fantasy playoffs.
