The release of wide receiver Roddy White left a potential hole in the Atlanta Falcons' passing game. The team filled that opening on the first day of the new league year Wednesday, inking ex-Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Mohamed Sanu to a contract, according to his agent.

The four-year veteran was fairly quiet last season, with 394 yards on 33 receptions. That was after a 2014 campaign in which Sanu was a big fantasy contributor. With wide receivers A.J. Green and Marvin Jones and tight end Tyler Eifert out for some or all of that 2014 season, Sanu had 790 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 56 receptions. He's also 5-of-5 passing in his career for 177 yards and two scores. He, along with Justin Hardy and others, will attempt to fill the role of the veteran White, who was released after only 506 yards last year, his lowest total since 2006.
Fantasy impact: Sanu isn't likely to ever be a fantasy superstar. Even in Atlanta, he's going to battle Hardy, Jacob Tamme and even Devin Hester for targets behind No. 1 receiver Julio Jones. If Jones goes down at some point, Sanu will be interesting, but barring that, he's not much beyond a bye-week add in fantasy.
Meanwhile, the Bengals are going to be looking for wide receiver help after Sanu and Marvin Jones left in free agency. The team is likely to be adding a pass-catcher either in free agency or the draft.
